What really drivers the cost of artificial turf?

Sep 1st,2025

Artificial turf primarily consists of three elements: yarnbacking, and coating. The yarn (made of PE or PP) determines the appearance and feel; the backing supports the yarn; and the coating fixes the fibers. Additionally, installation involves a base layer (e.g., crushed stone) and infill materials (such as silica sand and rubber granules).

Price fluctuations are mainly influenced by the following factors:

 (1)_副本

Yarn Material and Technology: High-quality PE yarn is more expensive than PP; special shapes, UV resistance, and wear-resistant additives also increase costs.

Pile Height and Density: Higher pile and greater density require more raw materials, raising the price.

Backing and Coating: Products with high-performance, hydrolysis-resistant backing and eco-friendly PU coating offer better durability and come at a premium.

Infill Materials: High-quality eco-friendly rubber granules cost significantly more than ordinary silica sand.

Additionally, global crude oil prices (as a petroleum-derived product) and market supply and demand are significant external factors affecting price volatility.
